Article summary
AJ Auxerre coach Guy Roux will be without goalkeeper Sébastien Hamel for most of the UEFA Cup group stage.
Article body
Training setback
The 28-year-old has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering ligament damage during a training session earlier this week. Hamel will be in plaster for two weeks but is unlikely to be able to return for at least another four weeks after that.
Chabert chance
Hamel joined Auxerre two years ago from FC Lorient but has yet to dislodge first-choice custodian Fabien Cool. In the absence of his established No2, coach Guy Roux will turn to 21-year-old Baptiste Chabert for at least the first three Group F games.
GAK opener
Auxerre start at home to Grazer AK next Thursday before travelling to AZ Alkmaar on 4 November and then welcoming KS Amica Wronki on 2 December. Hamel could be fit, however, for the last match at Rangers FC on 15 December.
