United all smiles, Ajax, Lyon and Celta suffer

Manchester United made light of Zlatan Ibrahimović's injury absence to close on the top four in England, but fellow semi-finalists Celta Vigo, Lyon and Ajax all suffered defeats.

CELTA v MAN. UNITED

Celta 0-1 Betis (Brašanac 54)
Celta's hopes of European football next season look increasingly like resting on victory in the UEFA Europa League after Eduardo Berizzo's men suffered a damaging reverse. Resting the likes of Iago Aspas and Pablo Hernández, the mid-table Galician outfit were undone by Darko Brašanac's diving header in the second half.

Burnley 0-2 Man. United (Martial 21, Rooney 39)
Missing the injured Zlatan Ibrahimović, United clinched their third consecutive Premier League win to close within a point of fourth-placed Manchester City. Anthony Martial grabbed his chance to shine with just a fourth goal in the top flight this term, before Wayne Rooney got his third – and the first since 21 January.

PSV 1-0 Ajax (Locadia 25)
Ajax's title prospects suffered a major blow as they slipped four points behind leaders Feyenoord with just two games to play. Needing a win to stay in touch, the Amsterdam side were undone by Jürgen Locadia's free-kick in 'De Topper', also losing Bertrand Traoré to an apparent groin injury.

Lyon 1-2 Monaco (Tousart 51; Falcao 36, Mbappé 44)
Lyon fielded a much-changed line-up after their penalty shoot-out win against Beşiktaş on Thursday and they found themselves trailing 2-0 at half-time as in-form Monaco duo Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappé both found the net. Lucas Tousart halved the deficit from a corner after the restart, but the young midfielder missed the chance to level when he headed just wide late on.
