- United have now drawn four of their last seven games in all competitions following this stalemate on the south coast. José Mourinho's side, already guaranteed a sixth-placed finish prior to kick-off, were indebted to goalkeeper Sergio Romero for a number of fine saves, most notably after just six minutes when he stopped Manolo Gabbiadini's penalty after Eric Bailly – suspended for the final – was adjudged to have handled the ball.
José Mourinho, United coach
I think we worked well, we played well; we could have lost as Romero made some amazing saves but we could have won as we had probably the two biggest chances. I'm happy with the individual performances, the attitude and the professionalism. The players showed me they want to be in the final, they want to be an option and they gave everything they have.
