FC Utrecht goalkeeper Joost Terol has been ruled out of next week's UEFA Cup Group C fixture with FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, and faces a race against time to make the trip to Club Brugge KV after tearing a thigh muscle.
Expectations confirmed
The 24-year-old pulled up 77 minutes into the Dutch side's 2-0 Matchday 1 defeat at Real Zaragoza last Thursday after taking a goal kick. An MRI scan has now revealed the extent of the injury, with club doctor Frank van Hellemondt admitting: "The scan just confirmed what we were already expecting."
Brugge deadline
Terol is likely to be out for four weeks, meaning he will not face Dnipro on 4 November, with his place going to René Ponk. However, he has until 25 November to recover to make the short journey to Club Brugge, before Utrecht end their group-stage campaign at home to FK Austria Wien on 16 December.
