Round of 16 flashback
  • Zenit overcame Villarreal in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup round of 32 en route to lifting the trophy that season. The Russian side won 1-0 at home prior to a 2-1 defeat in Spain which meant they progressed on away goals.
  • Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Čech – who will retire at the end of this season – played for Rennes for two seasons, 2002/03 and 2003/04.
  • Chelsea v Dynamo Kyiv will be of special interest to Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko, the celebrated striker who played for both clubs during his illustrious playing career.
