'Outstanding' Aachen stay alive

Group H reaction: Sevilla FC and LOSC Lille Métropole are through and TSV Alemannia Aachen can join them.

Sevilla FC and LOSC Lille Métropole have clinched their places in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup and TSV Alemannia Aachen will join them if they win their final Group H match at AEK Athens FC on 15 December. Aachen revived their hopes with a last-minute penalty that denied FC Zenit St. Peterburg the chance of going through themselves.

This was an outstanding match, we did not just fight, we outplayed the fourth-placed team in the Russian league. I was annoyed by the penalty we conceded - but we were rewarded with our penalty after 90 minutes and our equaliser was more than justified. Now we go to Athens for a win, but AEK will offer us a fight because they will not want to be eliminated with no points. Aachen coach Dieter Hecking

This was no football match, it was more like a boxing match. I need some time to be able to talk, you must understand my emotions and my disappointment. This was not a nice end to the season. Zenit coach Vlastimil Petrzela

We suffered far too much considering how we played and the chances we created. AEK had two chances and scored both and that was the only black mark because we must avoid those things from happening. Tonight we were rewarded for all our hard work, we knew how to react and I was particularly happy with Antoñito [Ramiro], who had a magnificent first half. Now we must go to France with the intention of collecting the three points but obviously with a lot less pressure. Sevilla coach Joaquín Caparrós

It's a shame that one of the big clubs have fallen out at the group stage but we can hold our heads up high knowing that we are edging our way out of a deep economic and institutional crisis. Even though we lost the game in the final moments, I can only be satisfied with the hard graft my players put in. From now on, we must concentrate on the league where we are top of the table, and maintain the good level of play that we have been showing. AEK coach Fernando Santos
