Dnipro send for Shevchuk

FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk have signed Ukraine winger Viacheslav Shevchuk from FC Shinnik Yaroslavl.

UEFA Cup contenders FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk have made their first winter break signing with the arrival of Ukrainian international Viacheslav Shevchuk from FC Shinnik Yaroslavl.

Return to Ukraine
The 24-year-old left winger is returning to his homeland on a three-year contract. He formerly played for FC Metalurh Zaporizhya, FC Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Metalurh Donetsk prior to his move to Russia in 2002. Shinnik finished sixth in the Russian Premier League this season.

UEFA Cup campaign
A former Ukraine Under-21 captain who has been capped twice at senior level, Shevchuk will be eligible for their UEFA Cup campaign as although he played in the UEFA Intertoto Cup for Shinnik last summer, they were eliminated in the third round - the last stage at which a player can be fielded and not be cup-tied for European competition that season. On Friday Dnipro were paired with FK Partizan in the Round of 32 in February, having previously finished top of Group C.
