Zaporizhya strengthen squad

FC Metalurh Zaporizhya completed a trio of signings as they prepare for their UEFA Cup campaign.

Brazilian pair
Zaporizhya have recruited two Brazilians, midfielder Toledo Rodrigo and striker Fabio Duarte, as well as Bosnia-Herzegovnian defender Tomislav Visevic. The trio are expected to make their debuts today, when their team face Ukrainian champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the first home game of the season.

Busy pre-season
These signings complete a busy pre-season for Metalurh, who meet Malta's Birkirkara FC in the UEFA Cup qualifying round next month. Vitaly Sidorenko joined from FC Obolon Kyiv, Serhiy Yershov from SC Mykolaiv, and Uros Miloslavlevic and Alexandr Brdjanin from OFK Beograd.

No home stadium
Metalurh, who finished fourth in Ukraine in 2001/02, will not be able to play any UEFA Cup ties at their home stadium and will instead travel 80 kilometres to Dnipropetrovsk for European home games.
