FC Rapid Bucuresti's Ioan-Ovidiu Sabau has reversed his decision to retire from football.

FC Rapid Bucuresti's Ioan-Ovidiu Sabau has reversed his decision to retire from the game.

Tough decision
Sabau, who has played for Feyenoord, Brescia Calcio and Reggina Calcio during an outstanding career, had announced his decision to quit in order to spend more time with his family. But George Copos, Rapid's main shareholder, and coach Mircea Rednic convinced the 34-year-old midfield player to sign on for another season, also enticing him to become the club's assistant coach.

'One more year'
"I am sure that I can play at least one more year and that Rapid can win the title or the Romanian Cup this season," he added. Despite the increased workload, Sabau has accepted a reduction in his annual salary from €80,000 to €50,000.
