Santini installed at Auxerre

Former France coach Jacques Santini will attempt to fill Guy Roux's shoes in charge of French Cup winners AJ Auxerre.

Cup holders
The 53-year-old ex-Tottenham Hotspur FC manager, who guided Les Bleus to UEFA EURO 2004™ in Portugal after clinching the first of Olympique Lyonnais's four successive Ligue 1 titles in 2002, has agreed to take the helm at French Cup winners Auxerre. The club will enter the UEFA Cup first round next season after their triumph in the domestic knockout competition against CS Sedan-Ardennes on Saturday.

'Delighted and proud'
"I'm delighted and proud to succeed a football legend," said Santini, who stepped down at Tottenham in November and will be joined at the Abbé Deschamps by his former assistant at Lyon and Spurs, Dominique Cuperly. Roux has been named vice-president in charge of sporting affairs and added: "Santini is a man who took control of the French team and lost just two games in two years. He's perfectly able to fulfil the job."
