Madouni made for Leverkusen

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the 24-year-old Algerian defender Ahmed Madouni from BV Borussia Dortmund.

'Ideal addition'
The 24-year-old has signed a two-year contract and will help coach Klaus Augenthaler plug the gap left by Emanuel Pogatetz's departure for English club Middlesbrough FC. "Ahmed is an ideal addition," Augenthaler said. "I needed another defender after Pogatetz asked to leave, because Jens Nowotny is still injured and Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker is very young."

Fourth arrival
Augenthaler added: "Ahmed knows his way around the Bundesliga and more importantly he can speak German." He becomes the fourth new face at the BayArena this summer after the arrivals of midfielder Simon Rolfes from TSV Alemannia Aachen, defender Athirson from Cruzeiro EC and forward Josip Tardic from NK Osijek.
