Alberto Riera has returned to Spain, joining UEFA Cup contenders RCD Espanyol from FC Girondins de Bordeaux for €3m.
Espanyol have spent the last few weeks negotiating for the 23-year-old left-winger, whose contract is believed to run until summer 2009. Riera, a Spanish youth international, moved to France from RCD Mallorca in 2003 and becomes Espanyol's third summer signing following the recent arrivals of Eduardo Costa and Jofre González.
Espanyol have also cancelled the contracts of 28-year-old Romanian striker Claudiu Raducanu and defender Marc Bertrán, 23, who are now free to join clubs of their choice. Espanyol's UEFA Cup campaign begins in the first round on 15 September.
