Alves signs on at Sevilla

Brazilian international Daniel Alves has signed a contract extension with Sevilla FC tying him to the club until 2011.

Third term
Alves is set to begin his third full season with Sevilla, whom he initially joined on loan from EC Bahia in January 2003. He was purchased outright, signing a four-and-a-half year deal, 12 months later. Sevilla have not altered the player's buy-out fee in the new arrangement, which is fixed at €60m.

Passport issue
It is a double celebration for the 22-year-old, who has also resolved the complications surrounding his application for dual nationality. Today the right-back will swear an oath of allegiance to the Spanish king and constitution to finalise the process. This will leave Sevilla with only two non-European Union players – Brazilians Luis Fabiano and Adriano Correia.
