Saviola secures Sevilla switch

Argentina striker Javier Saviola has sealed a season-long loan deal with Primera División side Sevilla FC.

Argentinean striker Javier Saviola has been unveiled at Sevilla FC after sealing a season-long loan deal from FC Barcelona.

Striking vacancy
Sevilla, who are celebrating their centenary year, have been searching for a new forward since Brazilian international Julio Baptista joined Real Madrid CF last month. But coach Juande Ramos believes the wait was worth it and that in Saviola, they have found the ideal replacement, and a perfect compliment for Luis Fabiano in attack.

'Right footing'
Saviola is keen to accomplish his new coach’s aspirations and hopes to make a quick impact. "This is about finding a city where I feel comfortable and welcomed," he said. "I hope I can adapt to my new surroundings as quickly as possible because the most important thing is getting the season off on the right footing."

Unsettled spell
The 23-year-old scored 17 goals on loan at Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco FC last term but was told that there was little chance of him retaining a first-team place when he returned last month. It was another blow to the youngster who has never been allowed to fulfil his well-regarded potential since joining Barça from CA River Plate in 2002.
