UEFA Cup hopefuls Esbjerg fB have signed promising midfield player Niki Zimling on a three-year contract from Danish Superleague rivals Brøndby IF.
The 20-year-old was due to join the West Jutland club at the beginning of next year but with limited first-team opportunities at reigning champions Brøndby he has been given the green light to move immediately. "I'm more than happy to get started in Esbjerg right away," Zimling said. "Brøndby is a good place to be, but knowing I'm only going to be there until January, I might as well change right away."
EfB lie a disappointing eighth after losing three of their opening six fixtures in the embryonic Superleague season and, for coach Ove Pedersen, Zimling's arrival could not come soon enough. "Although it would have been perfect if Niki Zimling had joined us on 1 July, it is nice that he is available now. He can definitely add something to our game."
