Guardalben poses Palermo problem

US Città di Palermo goalkeeper Matteo Guardalben is a doubt for the tie against Anorthosis Famagusta FC after sustaining a leg injury in training.

The 31-year-old injured the fibula of his left leg although scans have ruled out the possibility of a fracture. Guardalben has been ordered to rest and will sit out the Sicilian club's Serie A home game against FC Internazionale Milano on Saturday. His participation against Cypriot side Anorthosis at the Stadio Renzo Barbera on 15 September also appears unlikely, with Nicola Santoni set to deputise.
