Gedeon hampers Slavia plans

SK Slavia Praha captain Patrik Gedeon will miss both legs of the UEFA Cup first-round tie with Cork City FC after injuring knee ligaments.

Trio sidelined
The 30-year-old midfielder will be sidelined for six weeks as a result of the injury, and joins defender Miroslav Holeňák (sprained ankle) on the treatment table. Meanwhile, forward Pavel Fořt has been called up from the reserves, where he was dropped last month for disciplinary reasons, to replace the suspended Stanislav Vlček against Cork on Thursday.

Švec boost
However, there was good news for coach Karel Jarolím before the first-leg match in Prague, with Czech Under-21 international midfielder Michal Švec returning to action after three weeks out with an ankle sprain suffered in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against RSC Anderlecht.
