Crvena Zvezda pay the price

FK Crvena Zvezda must play their next two UEFA club competition matches behind closed doors following crowd disturbances against NK Inter Zaprešic.

One match deferred
From this sanction, one match is deferred for a probationary period of two years, which means that if a further offence is committed, UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body may order the original penalty to be executed, in addition to disciplinary sanctions for the second offence.

Various devices
The UEFA body heard that Crvena Zvezda supporters set off various pyrotechnical devices before and during the second-leg game in Belgrade. Local fans also threw missiles – including a mobile phone, two plastic lighters and a coin – on to the plastic roof of the Inter bench during an interruption in the match in the 82nd minute.

Security danger
UEFA emphasised that the use of pyrotechnics in a stadium is dangerous for the safety and security of both spectators and players. Crvena Zvezda may lodge an appeal against the decision by midnight CET on Monday 19 September.
