Bolton hit by Campo blow

Bolton Wanderers FC's UEFA Cup hopes have been dealt a blow after experienced midfield player Iván Campo broke a bone in his foot in training.

Fractured metatarsal
The 31-year-old former Spanish international midfielder sustained the injury in training and x-rays have revealed a fractured metatarsal. "He could be out for six to eight weeks," manager Sam Allardyce said. "He ran into a tackle, got caught and broke his foot. It's something we could have done without at this stage."

Vital experience
Campo provided an experienced head when Bolton made their European debut against PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv 1936 last week, the English Premiership side winning their UEFA Cup first round first-leg tie 2-1 at the Reebok stadium. They will travel to Bulgaria on 29 September without their seasoned campaigner, however, and should they negotiate the return game, Campo is likely to miss the first two group stage matches.
