Vitória SC have parted company with coach Jaime Pacheco following a disappointing run of results in the UEFA Cup and Portuguese Liga.
The Guimaraes-based side have lost nine of their 13 league games to date and were condemned to elimination from UEFA Cup Group H after a 3-1 defeat at Sevilla FC last week. Their group stage campaign concludes next Wednesday at home to Beşiktaş JK.
Pressure had been mounting on the 47-year-old former Boavista FC and RCD Mallorca coach, intensifying following Monday's 3-0 home loss to UD Leiria. That prompted a meeting with chairman Vítor Magalhães after which it was decided to end Pacheco's reign.
Guimarães were the only Portuguese team to reach the UEFA Cup group stage after beating Poland's Wisla Kraków in the first round. The club have not announced who will take charge for Saturday's trip to rock-bottom FC Penafiel.
