FC Artmedia goalkeeper Juraj Čobej is recovering in hospital in Bratislava after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour on Thursday.

Emergency surgery
The Slovakian champions' No1 collapsed last week in his home town of Bardejov in eastern Slovakia and was transported to the capital for treatment. Doctors diagnosed a brain tumour and performed emergency surgery on Thursday. His condition was reported as being satisfactory on Friday morning.

European heroics
The 34-year-old has been a stalwart of the Artmedia side in recent years, performing heroics in this season's UEFA Champions League as Artmedia unexpectedly secured a place in today's UEFA Cup draw. Čobej received his first Slovakia call-up in September 2005.
