Bolton take a chance on Jansen

English UEFA Cup challengers Bolton Wanderers FC have signed former Blackburn Rovers FC striker Matt Jansen until the end of the season.

'Great potential'
Bolton moved quickly to secure the 28-year-old's services after he was released by Premiership rivals and north-west neighbours Blackburn Rovers FC earlier this week. "Matt has great potential, even though he hasn't been involved with Blackburn of late, and I believe he has the right qualities to resurrect his career here," said manager Sam Allardyce.

Motorbike accident
Former Carlisle United AFC and Crystal Palace FC forward Jansen had seemed set for great things until he was injured in a motorbike accident in 2002. He subsequently struggled to find his best form at Blackburn. He has been handed the No17 shirt and could make his Bolton debut against Rovers this weekend.
