Peter Odemwingie has agreed a two-year contract extension with French UEFA Cup hopefuls LOSC Lille Métropole.

Rapid improvement
The Nigeria striker, who was born in Uzbekistan, joined from Belgian side RAA Louviéroise in August 2004 and is the northern team's top scorer this season with eight goals, already doubling his tally of four last term. He has been a key player in Lille's current European campaign, scoring in the UEFA Cup last-32 encounter with FC Shakhtar Donetsk. "I'm delighted about this extension because for me Lille are one of the best sides in France," said the 24-year-old. "I have improved rapidly under coach Claude Puel."
