Sevilla lose Kanouté for Schalke trip

Sevilla FC forward Frédéric Kanouté will miss at least the first leg of the UEFA Cup semi-final against FC Schalke 04 after picking up a hamstring injury during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Real Zaragoza.

The Mali international was substituted 40 minutes into yesterday's match, with tests today confirming a tear to his left hamstring which will sideline him for up to two weeks. The 28-year-old will sit out the Primera División game against RC Deportivo La Coruña and next Thursday's trip to Gelsenkirchen, but will hope to be fit for the 27 April return in Andalusia.
