Tender tendon sidelines Roque Junior

Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Roque Junior is expected to be out of action for two months after undergoing surgery on an achilles tendon injury.

Painful injury
Having suffered pain during training, the 29-year-old returned to his native Brazil for an operation after being examined by specialists. Roque Junior only played 15 league games last season, and did not feature at all between 4 December and 2 May. He is unlikely to be fit when the 2006/07 campaign starts on 11 August, although he will have another month before Leverkusen enter the UEFA Cup first round on 14 September.
