Tottenham Hotspur FC have signed Ivory Coast international midfielder Didier Zokora from French side AS Saint-Etienne.

'A very good signing'
The 25-year-old, who played all three of his country's matches at the FIFA World Cup finals, has been welcomed to White Hart Lane although the club have yet to reveal any details of the transfer fee or his contract. "A lot of clubs were after him, we had to compete for his services and he is a very good signing," said Tottenham manager Martin Jol, whose side will compete in the UEFA Cup first round.

'I am very proud'
Zokora, who joined St Etienne from Belgian club KRC Genk in 2004, added: "I am very proud to come here and I think it is a great club. I am extremely happy because I think there are a lot of really good players here and I am glad to be joining them. The core of the team is very young and we can build for the long term."
