Leverkusen haggle for Haggui

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the 22-year-old Tunisia defender Karim Haggui on a three-year contract from relegated French club RC Strasbourg.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Tunisia defender Karim Haggui on a three-year contract from RC Strasbourg to fill the gap left by the departure of Jens Nowotny.

World stage
The imposing 22-year-old caught the eye in three FIFA World Cup appearances and moves for an undisclosed fee. Haggui spent two campaigns at Strasbourg, playing 43 games in Ligue 1 and winning the 2005 French Cup. He also featured six times in the UEFA Cup last term, a competition he will return to when Leverkusen enter September's first round. Nowotny is set to join Croatian champions NK Dinamo Zagreb.
