Brøndby agree United loan deal

Brøndby IF coach René Meulensteen has brought a second youngster on loan from Manchester United FC, signing left-back Adam Eckersley until the new year.

Brøndby IF have signed 20-year-old left-back Adam Eckersley on loan from Manchester United FC until the new year.

Good prospect
Coach René Meulensteen knows Eckersley from his time in charge of Manchester United's reserves, a position he vacated to replace Michael Laudrup earlier in the summer. Meulensteen has already brought goalkeeper Mark Howard from Old Trafford, and Brøndby director Anders Bjerregaard was delighted to welcome a second English loan starlet. "Adam is an uncompromising left-back who is strong in defence but also good at getting forward to support the attack," he said. "We even expect him to stay beyond January." The Danish club drew 0-0 with FC Flora in Estonia in Thursday's UEFA Cup second qualifying round first-leg tie.
