Brazilian-born forward Yuri will join UEFA Cup hopefuls Boavista FC in January.
The 20-year-old Brazilian winger with a Portuguese passport has joined from 2. Liga side FC Maia and signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Porto side, who face Paris Saint-Germain FC on Thursday in the second leg of their UEFA Cup third-round tie.
Terms of deal
The terms of the deal will see Boavista FC pay €500,000 to Maia and also loan them central defender Saúl and another undisclosed player until the end of the season. Maia will also receive a percentage of the fee if Yuri is sold by Boavista at a later date.
National team hopes
"As I am also Portuguese, I hope that this transfer and my future work here will help me get a Portuguese national team call," Yuri said. "
This is a big step in my career and I am honoured to join Boavista. I will work hard to play as soon as the coach thinks that I am ready."
Boavista president João Loureiro has also confirmed that the club have sold Brazilian striker Serginho to Brazilian side Corinthians Alagoano for €800,000 with a clause in the contract which prevents him playing against Boavista should he be bought by another Portuguese club this season.
