Schicker adds to Austria woe

Struggling FK Austria Wien have lost defender Andreas Schicker for six weeks after the 20-year-old tore ligaments in his right foot at the weekend.

FK Austria Wien defender Andreas Schicker will be out for six weeks after tearing ligaments in his right foot.

Heavy blow
Schicker was hurt during the 4-0 defeat at leaders FC Salzburg which left Austria rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table with just 12 points from 13 matches. The 20-year-old, who will have an operation on Tuesday, was not near an opponent when he suffered the injury. Austria are also having a disappointing time in the UEFA Cup. They began Group F with a 4-1 home defeat by SV Zulte Waregem last week and face a tricky trip to AFC Ajax on 2 November.
