Austria plan without Schiemer

FK Austria Wien will play their two remaining matches in UEFA Cup Group F without Franz Schiemer as the Austria Under-21 defender nurses a serious shoulder injury.

Disappointing season
The 20-year-old tore ligaments in his right shoulder and damaged the joint during Saturday's 1-0 loss at SV Ried, a defeat which leaves the capital club rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga. Schiemer, who has scored once in nine league games after establishing himself this season, is expected to return when Austria resume training for the second half of the campaign in January. The club have lost both of their Group F outings and prop up the section with matches against AC Sparta Praha (h) and RCD Espanyol (a) to come.
