AZ show the way
Sevilla's 4-0 win at Grasshopper-Club lifted them on to seven points in Group C, level with leaders AZ Alkmaar who secured their progress thanks to a 2-2 home draw with FC Slovan Liberec. FC Dinamo 1948 Bucuresti will also take their place in the last 32 after beating Bayer 04 Leverkusen 2-1 in Group B, as will Maccabi Haifa FC who drew 1-1 at Group A rivals AS Livorno Calcio.
Six can follow
Six more teams are hoping to advance when Matchday 4 resumes today: AS Nancy-Lorraine in Group E, the Group F pair of AFC Ajax and RCD Espanyol, Panathinaikos FC and AFC Rapid Bucuresti in Group G and Group H's Fenerbahçe SK. Five teams had already reached the knockout stage prior to Matchday 4 with Italy's Parma FC, Scottish giants Rangers FC and the English trio of Blackburn Rovers FC, Newcastle United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC winning through last week.
