CA Osasuna have awarded defender Josetxo Romero a three-year contract extension that will keep the veteran at the club until June 2010.

Club stalwart
The 31-year-old centre-back, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, began his career in the Primera División side's youth teams and made his debut in 1995/96, when they were in Spain's second tier. He has since made 171 appearances and has featured four times in the UEFA Cup this term as Osasuna have won through to the Round of 32, where they will face FC Girondins de Bordeaux of France.
