Bayer 04 Leverkusen have announced new contracts for coach Michael Skibbe, sporting manager Rudi Völler and general manager Michael Reschke.
Skibbe, whose original deal expired this summer, has agreed a two-year extension until 2009 while Völler and Reschke are to sign new three-year contracts. "It is just natural that a coach's contract is more dependent on results than contracts for the administration," said the Leverkusen CEO, Wolfgang Holzhäuser, from the squad's training camp in Rome. The Leverkusen board will confirm the new contracts shortly.
Skibbe, who took the reins at the BayArena in October 2005, said he was happy to have reached agreement with the club: "Of course, I am very pleased that all of us can continue our work together. I hope we can reach our goals and will continue to be successful with Bayer." Leverkusen - currently sixth in the Bundesliga - finished fifth last term to qualify for this season's UEFA Cup, where they have progressed to a Round of 32 meeting with Blackburn Rovers FC next month.
