Le Guen handed PSG reins

Paris Saint-Germain FC have appointed former Olympique Lyonnais and Rangers FC coach Paul Le Guen following Monday's sacking of Guy Lacombe.

Rangers role
A PSG statement said: "From today, Mr Guy Lacombe is relieved of his role as head of the professional coaching team, which is handed to Mr Paul Le Guen and his assistant Yves Colleu." The decision to install the former Rangers FC manager comes after Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Valenciennes FC, which left the UEFA Cup contenders 17th in Ligue 1, two points off the drop zone.

PSG return
The 42-year-old Le Guen, who won the French title three times in as many seasons as Olympique Lyonnais coach between 2002 and 2005, joined Rangers at the start of this season but left the Scottish club eleven days ago by mutual consent. As a player he spent seven years at PSG, lifting the 1995/96 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Lacombe had guided PSG to the UEFA Cup Round of 32, where they meet AEK Athens FC over two legs next month.

César switch
Meanwhile, PSG's Brazilian defender Paulo César is to join Toulouse FC at the end of the current campaign, having agreed a three-year deal with the south-west outfit. The 28-year-old has made 48 league appearances for PSG, either side of a loan spell at Santos FC between 2004 and 2005.
