The 19-year-old Italy Under-21 forward, a product of Parma's youth system, joined Manchester United in 2004 and spent the first part of the season on loan at Newcastle United FC, where he made just three Premiership starts in eleven league appearances and scored one League Cup goal. "He is a very talented forward and the idea is to use him as a strike partner for Zlatan Muslimović, enabling attacking midfielder Domenico Morfeo to have more freedom behind them," said Parma coach Stefano Pioli, whose side face Portugal's SC Braga in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 on 14 February.
