Schindler signs on for Bremen

Werder Bremen have rewarded young striker Kevin Schindler with his first professional contract, tying the 18-year-old to the Weserstadion club until 2011.

UEFA Cup quarter-finalists Werder Bremen have rewarded young striker Kevin Schindler with his first professional contract, which commits the 18-year-old to the Weserstadion club until 2011.

Debut delight
Schindler's appearance in Bremen's 2-0 home win against Spanish side RC Celta de Vigo on 14 March was his first for the team he joined back in 1999. And he impressed sufficiently during his second-half run-out to earn a senior deal from the German title contenders, with Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs saying: "This contract will not change Kevin's life, but it will mean he has more obligations and expectations to meet." Schindler has also scored two goals in nine games for Bremen's reserves this season. "I have not achieved anything yet," the teenager said.
