ACF Fiorentina have signed winger Franco Semioli from relegated AC Chievo Verona for a reported €5.5m fee and also acquired veteran striker Christian Vieri.

Chievo experience
The 27-year-old Semioli, capped twice by Italy, has signed a four-year contract. He joined Chievo in the summer of 2003 following spells with Torino FC, US Salernitana Sport, Ternana Calcio and Vicenza Calcio, scoring ten goals in 133 league games for the Verona club. He will hope to compete in the UEFA Cup first round with Fiorentina after they finished sixth in Serie A.

Vieri talks
The Viola have also finalised a one-year contract with 34-year-old Vieri who was a free agent after his contract with Atalanta BC expired last month. Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli said: "I spoke with him - he's really motivated." With the 30-year-old Luca Toni having left for FC Bayern München, Fiorentina needed a new striker to lead the line.

Inter heyday
Having scored 23 goals in 49 appearances for Italy, Vieri's long career has seen him play for the likes of Juventus, S.S. Lazio, FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan in Serie A as well as Club Atlético de Madrid in Spain and Ligue 1 side AS Monaco FC. His most successful spell came at Inter where he scored 102 league goals in 143 Serie A games between 1999 and 2005.
