The four-times capped international, nicknamed 'Cata', has committed to a five-year contract at the Madrid club, who were losing finalists in last season's Copa del Rey under newly-appointed Real Madrid CF coach Bernd Schuster. He joins former Boca Juniors team-mate, goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri at his new club. "Despite having other offers I joined Getafe because I gave president Ángel Torres my word and because 'Pato' Abbondanzieri influenced my final decision," he said. "I would like to play like Walter Samuel. I try to imitate the way he plays. I think Getafe want to do things well." He joins new arrivals Mario Álvarez, Oscar Alfredo Ustari and Kepa Blanco as well as loan signings Miguel Pallardó and Pablo Hernández at Getafe, who are now coached by Michael Laudrup.
