Rapid progress for Pancu

Daniel Pancu has completed a move from FC Rapid Bucuresti to Besiktas JK following a successful loan spell.

Three-year deal
The Romanian has agreed a three-year contract with the current league leaders in Turkey, following their progress to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup with a 4-3 aggregate victory against Czech side SK Slavia Praha yesterday.

Double joy
Besiktas spokesman Mete Düren was delighted to conclude negotiations, saying: "We are looking forward to signing a permanent deal with him and this news has doubled our joy as it came after our UEFA Cup joy."

Goals from midfield
Pancu has proved an excellent addition to Besiktas's attacking armoury under Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu. His consistency has been rewarded with ten goals this season from midfield.
