Hamburger SV have signed German Under-19 international Jerome Boateng from Bundesliga rivals Hertha BSC Berlin on a five-year deal.

International experience
The 18-year-old, younger brother of Tottenham Hotspur FC midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, was ever-present as Germany reached the semi-finals of last month's UEFA European U19 Championship in Austria. He also made ten league appearances for Hertha last season.

'Talented player'
"We are delighted that the transfer has gone through and that Jerome is joining us at Hamburg. He is a very talented player and we are expecting a lot from him," said Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer. The club, who have won their opening two games of the Bundesliga season, will go into the second leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie against Budapest Honvéd FC on 30 August having drawn 0-0 in Hungary.
