Getafe net De La Red

Getafe CF have signed Rubén De La Red on a two-year contract from Real Madrid CF with fellow midfielder Esteban Granero also making the short trip to Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, albeit on loan.

Midfield promise
The 22-year-old De La Red joins Getafe after two frustrating seasons in the Madrid first-team squad in which he made just ten substitute appearances in the Primera División. He joins Michael Laudrup's team alongside the promising Granero, a member of Spain's victorious 2007 UEFA European Under-19 Championship squad, who has been at Madrid since he was eight and signed a new four-year deal this summer. Both players could be in the reckoning for Getafe's UEFA Cup first round tie against FC Twente later this month. Elsewhere, Granero's former team-mate Adrián González is also on the move after being loaned to RC Celta de Vigo for the year.
