Hamstring tear rules Agathe out

Didier Agathe will miss Celtic FC's UEFA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool FC.

Cup final
The French midfield player sustained the injury in Saturday's 1-0 Scottish Premier League win against Rangers FC. The fixture was the first of four matches which promise to shape Celtic's season. They include both legs of the European meeting with Liverpool and another Old Firm outing in the Scottish League Cup final.

'Confidence is high'
Although the 27-year-old is unavailable for Thursday's home leg, Agathe remains confident that his team-mates will impress against Liverpool at Parkhead. "After the result on Saturday confidence is high, and if we get a good result against Liverpool then it will give us another boost going into the game against Rangers on Sunday at Hampden [Park]," he said on Celtic's official website.

'Something special'
"It is not often that you get the chance to play in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. I am sure the game will be something special. There is nothing I can do about it, I can't change it and there is little point in looking backwards. I have to look ahead, and hopefully the team will play well enough to get into the semi-final and maybe I can play in that one!"

Larsson fit
There was some cheer for manager Martin O'Neill today, though, as striker Henrik Larsson declared himself fit to face Liverpool. The former Swedish international has been sidelined since suffering a double fracture of the jaw over a month ago. "If the manager picks me, I am ready to play," Larsson said. The return leg of the UEFA Cup quarter-final is at Anfield on 20 March with the semi-finals scheduled for 10 and 24 April.
