Archie Knox has been put in temporary charge of UEFA Cup contenders Bolton Wanderers FC following the departure of Sammy Lee on Wednesday. A statement on the English Premier League club's website said Knox "will be responsible for looking after the first team until further notice".

Knox in charge
Knox, 60, joined Bolton in August as coaching co-ordinator after managing the Scotland Under-21 side. He is vastly experienced and had previously worked as an assistant coach at Everton FC, Rangers FC, Manchester United FC and Aberdeen FC before joining the Scotland youth set-up. Bolton are second from bottom in the Premier League, having won just once this season. Knox will lead the team for the first time away to Arsenal FC on Saturday before Bolton kick off their UEFA Cup Group F campaign at home to SC Braga next Thursday.
