Germany defender Gonzalo Castro has extended his contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen until 30 June 2012.
One-club player
The 20-year-old has become the third young player to commit his future to the Bundesliga club, after midfielder Simon Rolfes and goalkeeper René Adler, by signing a two-year extension. Castro said: "I have been with Leverkusen from the Under-12 team upwards. Everything began for me here and Bayer are my club. I am confident we will have a lot of success."
'Very big talent'
The right-sided player, who has four Germany caps, has played 71 league games for the Rhine outfit, scoring three goals. Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler said of his decision: "We are delighted we have succeeded in keeping a very big talent for several years." Leverkusen will travel to FC Spartak Moskva for their second UEFA Cup Group E match on 8 November, having won their opening game 1-0 against Toulouse FC.
