Perea waves goodbye to Bordeaux

Colombian international striker Edixon Perea has moved back to South America, joining Brazilian side Grêmio FB Porto-Alegrense in a €885,000 transfer from FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

Frustrating spell
Perea, who has been capped 22 times by his country and scored seven times, joined Bordeaux in 2005 but has never managed to establish himself in the first team, making 13 starts in three seasons. The 23-year-old, whose only outing in 2007/08 was as a substitute in the UEFA Cup victory against Panionios GSS on 19 December said: "I need to play to get back the rhythm of competition. I am a substitute for the national team and if I don't play my chances of being called up will suffer." Perea joins his new team-mates for training on 3 January.
