Tottenham Hotspur FC's Robbie Keane has had plenty to celebrate in the past few weeks and the striker added another record to his growing collection with his 100th goal for the club in their 2-0 Premier League win against Sunderland AFC on Saturday.

Illustrious company
His added-time strike made the Republic of Ireland striker only the third Tottenham player to notch a century of goals for the club in the last 35 years. He is in illustrious company with UEFA Champions League winner Teddy Sheringham and former England player and manager Glenn Hoddle the only other players to match Keane's achievement in recent years.

'Great feeling'
The 27-year-old said: "It was a great feeling to have scored 100 goals, I'm very pleased. It's also fantastic to be associated with other great players who've done it as well. But the more pleasing fact is that my goal helped Tottenham clinch all three points. I'm pleased to have the 100th goal out of my way now. All I want to concentrate on is scoring more goals for the club and play regularly for the rest of the season."

Prolific year
Keane has had to work harder than most to reach the milestone at White Hart Lane with the likes of Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent both providing strong competition since he joined from Leeds United AFC in 2002. But Keane has seen off all challengers and underlined his importance to Tottenham with 31 goals in all competitions in 2007. "It is a great achievement for him, for Tottenham and the whole Spurs family," said head coach Juande Ramos. "I'm very happy for him because this achievement is not easy to reach."

League record
Ireland's record goalscorer added another notable feat just a few weeks ago after finishing top of the Premier League goalscoring charts in 2007, his 19 goals in the calendar year eclipsing Manchester United FC's Cristiano Ronaldo by one strike. "I'm delighted with that," added Keane. "It's just about playing regularly. I've been fortunate to play every week and as a striker, that's important, that momentum. I've seen the benefit of that and I want it to continue." All that is missing now is a trophy and Keane will be hoping to help Tottenham to a first cup final in six years when his team face Arsenal FC in the English League Cup semi-final second leg on Tuesday with the tie level at 1-1.
