RSC Anderlecht have made their second loan signing in the space of 24 hours with the capture of Oleksandr Iakovenko from fellow Eerste Klasse outfit KRC Genk.
The 20-year-old Ukrainian midfield player will remain with the Belgian champions until the end of the season, after which time the move can be made permanent. Anderlecht yesterday recruited striker Luigi Pieroni on a similar deal from RC Lens.
Iakovenko has barely featured for Genk this campaign, making only four substitute appearances for the side that sit one place below his new club, in seventh. "We are confident in his abilities," said Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck. "Now it is up to him to prove himself." Iakovenko is Anderlecht's fifth recruit of the month, following the acquisitions of Pieroni, Guillaume Gillet, Thomas Chatelle and Stanislav Vlček, and could be registered for the UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
