OM's Ziani to sit out Spartak visit

Olympique de Marseille are likely to be without Karim Ziani for the first leg of their tie against FC Spartak Moskva after the midfielder hurt a knee in training.

Olympique de Marseille could be without Karim Ziani for the first leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against FC Spartak Moskva after the midfielder picked up a knee injury.

Two weeks out
The 25-year-old Algerian international damaged the joint in training on Friday, with Marseille expecting him to be out for "between ten days and a fortnight". Ziani, who has scored one goal in 18 Ligue 1 appearances since moving to the Stade Vélodrome from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard last summer, will miss the first game against Spartak in France on 14 February and is a doubt for the return in Russia a week later.
