Rüstü proud to join Barça

Turkish international goalkeeper Rüstü Reçber has finalised his transfer to FC Barcelona.

Turkish international goalkeeper Rüstü Reçber has completed his transfer to FC Barcelona after leaving Fenerbahçe SK last month.

Tests passed
The 30-year-old was presented to the media today after completing a medical with the Catalan club, who will play in next season's UEFA Cup. "I hope to be a great keeper here," said Rüstü. "Since I was seven years old I've been a fan of Barça. There have been just two teams in my life, Fener and Barça."

Looking forward
He added: "There have been some great Barça teams in the past and I want us to be a great Barça in the future." Rüstü is the first signing for new Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Retirement plan
Rüstü, who had been Fenerbahçe's No1 since joining from Antalyaspor in 1994, has said he would like to end his career back at the Istanbul club. The goalkeeper, who impressed for Turkey at last summer's FIFA World Cup finals, has played 79 times for his country.
